TM4C1294KCPDT: Uniflash Does Not Save Session (nor read one).

Part Number: TM4C1294KCPDT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

I have tried several versions of uniflash on my windows 10 laptop the last few months and am unable to save my session.  It goes through the motions of saving, but when I look at my folder where I supposedly saved the file, it is not there.  Any thoughts.

If I load a working a file from another computer where this functions correctly, I get the following message.

  • slugdoug

That is a new one.  In the screen capture I see the flash image as SDX_CB.bin.  Was that something that you had before loading the session?  Just trying to figure out if it was able to read part of the information from the session file.  With the cloud version I have loaded sessions on different machines but I haven't tried sharing one between desktop versions before.  I suspect that their may be some path info causing issues.  Such as the path to the flash image.

    Regards,

    John

  • I have not been able to reproduce this.  I even saved a session on my windows machine and loaded it on my Mac.

Do you have permissions to write in the UniFlash folder?  Have you tried saving the session in a location where you for sure have write permissions?

    John

  • John,

I have tried writing to all different locations and overwriting existing files with no luck.  Do you know what paths are needed?  I have had the guys from IT help me look into this and verify that the Antivirus and other tools are not causing the issue with no success.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Doug

  • Doug,

No other ideas come to mind.  We don't think that the logging that we currently have will be enough to tell what is going on.  Thus we are going to create a version with some additional logging that we can send to you to try out.  It will take a bit of time to put this together.

    Regards,

    John

  • Doug,

Can you try the following experiment to generate a log file we can use to further look at this issue?

    1. Download the attached public.7z package.

    https://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/908/public.7z

    2. Extract the 'public' folder from the archive and replace this folder with the one in your uniflash <installDir>/uniflash/public/ folder (backup as needed).

    3. a) Start up UniFlash,

        b) Choose your configuration,

        c) Click on Start,

        d) Go to Session -> Save Session, select location and save

        e) Go to Settings -> Under GUI Logging, click on 'Download Log'. Choose location to save (If the log file does not save properly either, I will need to provide another instructions on enabling a different way to capture the logs).

    4. If you are able to generate the logs, can you send me the file for analysis.

Please let me know if you have any questions on these steps.

    Thank you,

    Ricky

  • Ricky,

I just emailed you directly the log file.  Let me know if you did not get it.

    Thanks

    Doug

  • Doug,

I got the file, and I'm analyzing it now.

    Thank you,

    Ricky

  • Doug,

Can you check if the following file exists on your file system?

    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Texas Instruments\uniflash\ preferences.json

The AppData folder is hidden by default, so you might need to enable viewing hidden folders in you Windows Explorer settings.

If the file exists, can you try backing up the file by moving it to a different location, and then try starting up UniFlash again and see if you can save files now?

If this fixes the issue, can you also send me the backed up preferences.json for further analysis?

    Thanks,

    Ricky

  • Ricky,

That worked.  I was able to save the session and even load the saved session.  That you for the awesome support.
