Does the XDS200 have the ability to drive the nTRST pin high when programming?
Hi,
Yes, the XDS200 supports 5-wire JTAG. However, that is highly dependent on the target itself - several devices do not support the nTRST signal and the selection is done as part of the protocol stack - i.e., can't be independently driven.
Perhaps you mean the nRESET (System Reset) pin, which is a signal that can be driven independently?
Additional details can be found at:

Hope this helps,
Rafael
Hi Rafael,
I was the one that originally asked Gregory the question. We are using the TMS570LS3137-EP and the reason for my concern with the nTRST pin is the schematic for the development board.
On the dev board there is a circuit that pulls up the nTRST pin when the nPORRST signal is high. We don't need to use the nTRST signal for anything outside of normal JTAG operation. I just wanted to be sure that we would be fine using the XDS200 if we only had a pulldown on our board for nTRST.
Thanks,
Caleb
Caleb,
The recommendations for nTRST signal are shown at the XDS Target Connection Guide:
https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_xds_target_connection_guide.html
Pulling down TRST is ok as long as you have it connected to the nTRST signal on the JTAG header of your board - after all, this signal needs to be asserted to allow JTAG communications.
Does that make sense or did I misunderstand the question?
Regards,
Rafael
