CCS/TMS570LS3137: (Error -1170 @ 0x0) Unable to access the DAP

Part Number: TMS570LS3137

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I have been trying to program/debug a TMS570LS3137 mounted on my own PCB for several hours. I use an XDS110 Debug Probe. However, after several attempts, it is impossible to program and debug. I always get the same error which is the following:

"Error connecting to the target:
(Error -1170 @ 0x0)
Unable to access the DAP. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).
(Emulation package 8.2.0.00004)"

Here are the different things I tried to do that didn't work:
- Check the hardware connections
- Decrease the frequency in target configuration (100kHz)
- Use a "Test Connection" that gives me a success
- Read the different points in this post which didn't help me: http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/hercules/f/312/t/785145?CCS-TMS570LC4357-Error-1170-Unable-to-access-the-DAP

By following this post (https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/hercules/f/312/p/542615/2020352I managed to erase all the flash. However, then, when I want to load my program, just at the end of the loading, I get the same errors as usual:

I would like to point out that my PCB is a version 2 of another almost similar PCB, where I can flash and program without any problem. In these new PCBs, I never managed to program.

Thank you in advance for your help:) !

Maxime

  • Hello,

This error is described in the following reference under Cannot access the DAP section:

If the link above you can find a  Hardware checklist that is good to be done.

If design of the boards you are using is not the same and the application you are uploading is the same, may be there is a signal integrity problem (assuming you have checked HW connections).
