EK-TM4C123GXL: TM4C123GH6PM Microcontroller - need to extract the SRAM PUF

Part Number: EK-TM4C123GXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C123GH6PM

Hello,

I am doing a project with Tiva™C SeriesTM4C123GLaunchPad (TM4C123GH6PM Microcontroller). where i need to extract the PUF details of the SRAM.

I am completely new to using boot loader and getting PUF details. This is a part of my hardware security lab exercise and we are 4 people.

any help related to this field will be much appreciated.

Can someone provide us the steps and documentation, from start?

Thanks and regards,

vinoth.

  • Hello Vinoth,

I've done some research regarding this, and unfortunately this is not really an area we have ever supported or are in position to invest time into a detailed investigation about how to achieve this. The best I can do is point you to this E2E thread from a few years ago where general theory about how to do this was discussed including advice with assembly: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/other/f/908/p/242689/852183#852183

Unfortunately that is the extent of what I can provide as we do not have any documentation, example code, or steps available for this. It is simply outside of the scope of applications that we support.

  • PUF (Physical Unclonable Function) is from https://www.intrinsic-id.com/sram-puf/. It is not from Texas Instruments. Please contact them.

  • May it now - due to the limitations listed - prove 'acceptable' to suggest that poster review such 'PUF - SRAM' applications (already) implemented?

The firms: Maxim, Microchip & NXP all indicate (some) success w/this 'Physically Unclonable Function' technique - which seeks to, 'Add Security' to MCU programs.    In particular - it is my firm's belief - that NXP's 'LPC55S6x' presents a (reasonably) complete implementation.

Employing key design elements from these sources (especially the MCU listed) 'MAY' enable this/other posters'  'PUF' success - w/the  MCUs HERE!    (maybe)
