BOOSTXL-SHARP128: BOOSTXL-SHARP128 launchpad compatibility list ( especially for LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1)?

Part Number: BOOSTXL-SHARP128
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1, CC1310

I'd like to use the BOOSTXL-SHARP128 LCD on the CC1352 launchpad (LAUNCHXL-CC1352R1 to be exact) but I do not see a compatibility list anywhere for the display.

Is there a list out there?

Thanks,

Tim

    Feel your pain (slightly, somewhat...)

Might the absence of such a "Compatibility List" be explained (and thus expected) by:

    • this MCU vendor did not produce that display
    • rarely are such compatibility lists produced (but for especially exotic components [i.e. switch-mode inductors, etc.])
    • quick/eased "Web-Search" reveals > 10K of these displays "In Stock!"

You do not note those features/functions which you find especially appealing.    "Your" desired display is a 128x128 Mono Lcd - features a greatly reduced power budget - yet that 'square-size' & (relatively) sparse pixel array - have failed to produce great Sales Volumes.

As one w/(some) experience w/in the Display Industry - might you consider the following (not directly compatible, unfortunately):

    • 128x160 Full Color TFT - 1.8" diagonal - "Lower Cost!"
    • 320x240 or 240x320 (aka QVGA) Full-Color TFT - 2.4" diagonal - 'often avail. w/Touch-Screen' (near equal cost)

Should your desired display not support, "Shades of Gray" it will prove gravely limiting graphically.   (i.e. your pixel field will be confined to, "Full-On or Full-Off" -thus photo rendering will prove (beyond) unattractive!    (often even impossible)

Both the 128x160 & 240x320 Color TFTs are so popular (and cost-reduced) that you can find them "Everywhere!"    They demand more power than the Sharp device - yet "Welcome photo rendering" - provide the 'intrigue' of color - and outsell your (compatibility-challenged) display by (easily) 100K:1 - - thus (may) warrant your (and/or other display users) - consideration...

Should minimal power usage provide the "key advantage" of such a display - one may consider, "E-Ink" Displays.    These employ "NO/ZERO Power" while displaying a static image - only requiring power when the screen is to be actively, "changed/updated!"

  • The display board is compatible with the CC1310 launchpad, and I'm asking if the same board is compatible with another lauchpad. Since TI does make the LCD board and launchpad boards, and the pinout for "booster packs" is defined by the lauchpad boards, I would expect TI to have a list of compatible boards. But maybe they dont? That is why I ask.

  • Thank you - yet staff & I did respond to your initial post's request:

Your newer posting asks, "If the same board is compatible with another launchpad?"     Such changed issue is best handled by vendor staff - we've advised based upon your (clear) display focus - conveyed during your initial posting...

  • Sorry no. That is the same question I asked in the heading. I can ask it once more. Is the Boostxl-SHARP128 from TI compatible with the CC1352 launchpad? Asked in the heading and asked in the first sentence.

It's really a simple no or yes. And I asked about the list in case anyone else cares about this question for their TI launchpad board.

  • Hi Tim,

The BOOSTXL-SHARP128 is compatible with the CC1352 Launchpads.

I'm not aware of such a list but all CC13xx/CC26xx Launchpads do, to my knowledge, support the BOOSTXL-SHARP128.

    Best Regards,

  • Thank you very much RM, really appreciate that!
