Connecting ADC to RS485 Transceiver

Hi,

I want to design a very small PCB (Suppose a 1" diameter circle) including one thermistor, an ADC and a RS485 transceiver to send the data to my MCU which is placed 2000 feet away. My question is that, Is it possible to connect an ADC directly to a RS485 transceiver or I have to use a small MCU to setup and recieve data from the ADC and send it to the transceiver? Do we have any ADC with RS485 Interface?

Hi Reza,

I do not believe we have an ADC with an RS485 interface. For help with that part of the design, I would suggest posting on the RS485 E2E forum.

I can help with your ADC selection. Do you know how many input channels, resolution, and sampling speed you are interested in?
