TMDX570LC43HDK: Received TMDX570LC43x Hercule Development kit HDK with a board not fully populated

Part Number: TMDX570LC43HDK

Have previously the case CS0174100 (SO# T00687503) for submitting the issue.

On the development board received TMS570LC43x the connector 4 pin mini USB XDS100V2
(J7 on the documentation picture) was not populated at manufacturing.

I have asked TI for returning the board and getting a new one (exchange)
ICan you confirm that the board is defective.(pictures included)
Regards.

  • Hello Yvon,

The J7 should be populated by the manufacturer. From the picture, it looks like that the J7 (mini usb connector) was removed manually.

  • Based on your last EMAIL the part was unsoldered and removed !

I haven't done the removal of the mini USB connector. Why a new one was
not installed on the board before before shipping (and put in the antistatic bag) looks
    like a double manufacturing blooper.
Now the "TI Customer Support" send me this question:
if you haven't done the removal of the mini USB connector (J7). Would really appreciate as well if you
could ask him if the product is indeed defective and is qualified for a replacement.
The J7 connector is the kind of part that nobody never remove for any reason on a functional board.
For me the product is obviously defective and need a replacement (in fact I do not trust this board anymore).

  • Hi Yvon,

I agree with you, the board is defective. Please contact vendor for replacement. The USB connector might be removed by the manufacturer by mistake during their test.

If you need help from my side, please let me know.

  • Sorry to ask you again more information but your TI Customer Support department what to know
if I must return the board or not. You will find below the complete note:

    --------------

Dear Yvon, Good day. I understand that the E2E engineer already confirmed that the part is defective. However, he did not provide instructions if the board needs to be returned or not. Kindly post an additional inquiry on the same thread in E2E and have the engineer confirm if the board is to be returned or not. If to be returned, he has to provide the package return address with attention as well. Without this information in the E2E thread, we are unable to proceed with the process.
