CCS/TMS570LS0714: Active Cell Balancing is not working

Dear Sir,

We are performing Active cell balancing algorithm in TMS570Ls0714 PCB board. When we are debugging code, g_ui32EMB1428Status is giving error of 0x80. than We went through of EMB1428 datasheet. Active cell balancing is working in Evolution board , g_ui32EMB1428Status is giving 0xA9 during discharging of Cell 1. with 0xA0 which indicates no error. But in our case, First time g_ui32EMB1428Status is giving 0xA9 during discharging of Cell 1 with 0x80 which indicates CS falling edge while the EMB1428 is still waiting for a transition on DONE (rising or falling edge).

than continuously this error is indicating.

How to resolve this error? Can you please give us suggestion.

it is urgent requirement..

Hello Krunal,

Do you connect TMS570 SPI and GIO signals to EMB board correctly? TMS570 SPI needs to control 4 ICs on EM EVM: three of EM1428 for charging or discharging to the battery cells and digital-to-analog converter for controlling the charge or discharge current. The 4 SPI chip select signals are generated by a shift register IC.

The output of the shift register IC is controlled by the SPI data and two GPIO signals.

How do you map the TMS570 signals to EM EVM?

Hi wang,

I am attaching schematics of Active cell balancing.Please go through it. in that all signals are given details. and for charging we will get g_ui32EMB1428Status = 0x10 error. we cannot resolve this error. Can you please give more suggestion so i can solve my problem as soon as possible.

On the EM1402 board, the pl455 acts only as the monitor. Active balancing is handled by the EMB1428Q (switch matrix) and the EMB1499Q (isolated + bidirectional dc-dc).

The EMB1428 data sheet has information on the SPI commands to send to connect the switch matrix: www.ti.com/.../emb1428q.pdf

I haven't got chance to read the datasheet of EM1428
