Compiler/TMS570LS3137: arm-linux-gcc:undefined reference to error

I would like to compile the bootloader on linux with arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc,the makefile gives me an undefined reference error:

autoinit.h:143: undefined reference to `__binit__'

autoinit.c:171: undefined reference to `WDTCTL_SYM'

exit.c:68: undefined reference to `__TI_pprof_out_hndl'

exit.c:68: undefined reference to `_symval'

I can't find where those are defined.

It appears you are compiling source code from the RTS (runtime support) library of the TI ARM compiler with a variant of the GCC ARM compiler. This is not supported. The source code of the RTS library, which is part of the compiler release package, often contains language extensions and symbols that are specific to that compiler.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do, so I am unable to tell you how to fix this problem.

I use HALCOGEN to generate code,get bootloader source files,and get reference files from ccs\tools\compiler\ti-cgt-arm_20.2.1.LTS\lib\src.

My compiler is arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc.

Hi George,

I found the HALCOGEN can choose tools,if I want to compile the code with arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc,do I need to choose GCC Tools or ARM Tools?

You can chose the ARM tool and GCC tools (Linaro compiler supported in CCS) in HALCOGen. I remember the GCC compiler doesn't support big endian device, and a patch is needed. Please search GCC in this forum, several users posted some very good suggestions and links.

What is the reason for using that compiler?

My understanding is that arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc is intended to create programs to run under Linux.

Whereas arm-none-eabi-gcc is intended to create bare-metal programs, such as a boot loader to run on a TMS570LS3137.
