TM4C1294NCPDT: Sizes of External SDRAM

Part Number: TM4C1294NCPDT

Hello,
Could anyone clarify if the TM4C1294NCPDT supports only 64Mbit, 128Mbit, 256Mbit or 512Mbit of external SDRAM memory as described in the EPISDRAMCFG register (page 864 of the datasheet)?
I am planning to use a 16Mbit SDRAM (512K x 16 x 2 banks), it's possible to use this one ? if yes, what value should I use in the EPISDRAMCFG register size field?
Thank you.

  • Hi Tiago,

As noted in the datasheet, 16Mbit is not listed as a programmable option. Therefore, I cannot guarantee if accessing a 16Mbit SDRAM will work or not. I tend to think the SDRAM device might work if your application limits the addressing to within 16Mbit and perhaps the SDRAM device will just ignore the upper bits of the address if you access beyond the 16Mbit address spaces. You will need to experiment with it and find out if that is the case. Ask your SDRAM vendor will confirm if it is possible. With that said, I will suggest you use the 64Mbit SDRAM if possible for your application so there is no ambiguity.

  • Hi, Charles!

I Will experiment with 2Mbit first.

    Thank you!
