TIDM-TM4C129POEAUDIO: TM4C129 POE : Audio over ethernet support

Hi,

We have customer requirement for an IOT based application where in, the MCU board needs to be powered over ethernet (POE) and I2S based audio data needs to be streamed over ethernet.

The audio data over ethernet streamed through network will be used for analytics in the cloud.

For this, I came across the below solution from TI :

I have downloaded the TIVA firmware, I don't see the ethernet driver support for streaming Audio.

Can someone help me understand if Audio can be streamed over ethernet based on this solution ?

Hi Prabhuraj,

Unfortunately, the TivaWare does no have special Audio library for streaming over Ethernet. With that said, I don't see reason why you can't stream audio over Ethernet if that is your question.

You mean to say we can use TM4C129POE with Audio over ethernet streaming? Is there a software changes required to do so?

It will be of great help to us if you could elaborate more on the solution and your thoughts on this.

I downloaded the firmware TIDM-TM4C129POEAUDIO Firmware.

I see an application for voice call but I didn't find ethernet / audio over ethernet sample application as part of the firmware.

Do you recommend we get this launchpad and develop the driver and application as part of our project ?

Please suggest.

Hi Prabhuraj,

This is the only reference design I can find that comes close to what you are looking - audio over POE. You will need to develop your own audio driver to suit your application.

I don't think you need to purchase the reference design. As a matter of fact, the "Order Now" button is grey out. Perhaps it is out of stocks. However, the hardware design collateral (e.g. schematic and user's guide) and software firmware are still available for download.
