TMS570LS3137: Input pin absolute maximum rating

Part Number: TMS570LS3137

Absolute maximum rating of hercules refers input voltage shall be between 4.6V and -0.3V.

Since we don't adopt damping resisitance for EMIF BUS, so Voltage overshoot and undershoot violate absolute rating above.

But we didn't have troubles at so far.

We think that duration of overshoot and undershoot are very short, so their effect is negligible.

How do you think about it ?

  • Hi CHATBOT,

Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability. It's better to add series termination resistor to reduce the overshoot and undershoot caused by the signal reflection.

  • Thaks for your reply.

I will consider to add series resistor.

    best regards

  • Dear QJ Wang

I considered series resister temination. But PCBs do not have sufficient area.
Please let me know if there is a transient absolute maximum rating for both overshoots and undershoots.
Overshoot of 2n seconds was measured. I hope it's acceptable.
I also want to know the structure of I/O. Do you have a clamp diode, for example?

  • Hello,

The I/O block on TMS570LS3137 device has clamp diode. As stated in the datasheet, exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability. You need to find a way to reduce the overshoot and undershoot.
