TMS570LS1224: PIL target package

Part Number: TMS570LS1224

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer would like to run PIL simulation on TMS570LS12x Development Kit.
However, the PIL target package that they found on below link was for RM48x models.

Their question is if there is a package which supports the MCU TMS570LS12x in Simulink or there are some "quick" guidelines/ instruction for customizing the package (from models RM48x) to this platform TMS570LS12x ?

Thanks!

  • Hello Art,

To my knowledge, there is no package available for TMS570. The RM4x package was authored by a TI employee, who has moved on to a different group, and therefore the RM4x is not actively maintained.

It seems like should be possible to migrate the RM4x package to work with TMS570, but someone from the TMS570 group would need to look into the details for this. It would definitely take some effort to do the work; I'd guess a month or more, but honestly, until someone digs in to the details, it is hard to estimate the effort.

MathWorks Consulting could be an option if TI or the end customer wishes to pay for this PIL solution.

If you'd like a deeper discussion, please PM me on E2E and we can exchange contact info and proceed from there.

    Cheers,

    -Brian

  • Hello Brian,

Thank you for looking into this!

I think it would be best if the customer can directly communicate with you instead.

I might direct the customer to this thread for further inquiries from his side.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Art,

As Brian said, we don't have PIL solution for TMS570 devices. We don't have a plan to migrate the RM48x package to work with TMS570 devices.

  • Hello Brian,

is it possible to say price for TMS570 package?

    Regards

    Jaromír

  • Hi Jaromir,

I'm not in Consulting, so I don't have good insight on this. A price (from any consultant, MathWorks or otherwise), would depend on the actual requirements (what is needed, what is not needed). I will take a wild guess at USD 10k to 100k+, depending on the actual requirements.

I know customers who work extensively with MathWorks tools tend to create their own PIL solutions that fit precisely into their workflow. But I think they make an active decision to invest the engineering effort to do this, as streamlining the workflow for many developers yields multiplicative benefits far exceeding the engineering cost.

    YMMV

    Cheers,

    -Brian
