TMS570LC4357: Boot modes present in the controller

Hi,

I was looking into datasheet and user manual of TMS570LC4357 controller. I could not find the details on boot modes and its working.

I saw the https://www.ti.com/lit/an/spna106d/spna106d.pdf document, which explains about the Initialization but doesn't explain about the booting process.

I also read the Wiki "https://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/TMS570_Hercules_MCU_Bootloader". It explains the building of bootloader which is already present.

Hello Aravind,

Hercules devices only support boot from flash. It doesn't have ROM bootloaders.

Thanks Wang,

That means, when I loading the code for the first time (i.e., when I have a new microcontroller), I must have CCS studio (or supported IDE) and emulator setup with me.

Is my understanding correct?

Hello Aravind,

Yes, you are correct. The JTAG emulator is required to load the first program to the MCU flash.
