AWR1843: XDS110 connection question - ground and UART pin usage on custom pcb

Part Number: AWR1843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU110-U,

Hi Team, I am posting on behalf of a customer, who built a custom board with AWR1843-AOP. The customer is planning on using TMDSEMU110-U for debugging/programming AWR1843-AoP.

Their question:

"I am planning to use it for debugging/programming AWR1843AOP. I plan to mux that chip's MSS_UARTA between the XDS110 probe and a host processor, based on the presence of the debug probe.

I can detect the presence by connecting one of the GND pins at the connector to a high-impedance pullup instead of tying it to GND. When the connector (probe) is attached, it'll short the pin to GND. Do you have any concerns with this approach? Or does TI have an alternative recommendation for probe detection?

I'm assuming that all GNDs are tied together on the probe, but the design files aren't public. I am not powering the target via the probe, so I'm not concerned about the fewer GND pins."
