Compiler/TMS570LS3137: MISRA 2008 C++ with TI Compiler

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

I'm trying to find a way to scan MISRA 2008 C++ using code which is being compiled with the TI Compiler. Coverity only supports an older version of the TI Compiler (17.3.0). Is there a product that TI recommends to integrate with the compiler for newer MISRA checking? Preferably one that integrates with CCS? I've found some that integrates with Eclipse but I don't believe that would work with TI compiler projects in CCS?

Additionally, I was trying to revert back to 17.3.0 using this, https://www.ti.com/tool/download/ARM-CGT-17/17.3.0.STS - however upon install it says it is for TMS470. Is there a different install which is targeted for TMS570? I'm not sure why that is called out as I don't think it matters what the target is? Can I just use this for TMS570?

Yes, TMS470 is just the name that the TI compilers team gave to the ISA for ARM CPU-based devices.

Thanks. It turns out while attempting to use it, that compiler doesn't support C+11. Any suggestions regarding the original question?

Unfortunately, no. TI has no recommendation for MISRA checking, or any examples to share.

ok. thanks. why is that? I would think that many people want to perform MISRA checking/static analysis on the Hercules chip as it is a safety MCU. There are some but it's very hit or miss/expensive. I could see that it's possible to abstract out all HAL calls and run the code checking/analysis on that application code compiling natively, but that's not really ideal and excludes any compiler optimizations/configuration/issues etc.

There are several compilers vendors that support MISRA checking for Cortex R4/5 processors. For example, IAR supports an add-on called C-STAT for their Embedded Workbench that checks compliance with rules as defined by coding standards including MISRA C:2004, MISRA C++:2008 and MISRA C:2012.
