TMDSEMU110-U: Is It Possible to Connect One of the Ground Pins to a High Impedance Pullup

Part Number: TMDSEMU110-U

Hello,

A customer wants to tie one of the GND pins to a high impedance pull up in order to detect the presence of the probe when it is attached. When the connector (probe) is attached, it'll short the pin to GND. Do you have any concerns with this approach? Or does TI have an alternative recommendation for probe detection?

Regards,

Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

HW specific emulation questions are now supported by the respective BU. What device are you using? Once you let me know, I can move this thread to the appropriate device forum.

    Thanks

  • So who answers questions specific to the debugger? I don't see how the BU can be the one to answer a question that is specific to the debugger. How is the BU supposed to know about TMDSEMU110-U when we did not design it?

    Regards,

    Adrian

Questions regarding the software side of the debugger (including the debug probe drivers are handled by the CCS team). Any hardware specific questions related to JTAG and such is now handled by the respective BU.

Agreed, this is certainly not an ideal solution.

  • Just adding to this thread in case anybody searches for the same thing in the future.

We have confirmed that connecting one of the GND pins to a high impedance pull up is a suitable method for enabling a probe detect.
