CCS/DK-TM4C129X: LCD display not working

Hello,

I'm currently trying to get the LCD display of the DK-TM4C129x to work. I'm using CCS Version: 10.1.0.00010, Windows 10 and TivaWare_C_Series-2.1.4.178. I tried out some examples like hello_widget and qs_weather, but the LCD display ist not showing anything besides the backlight that is always on due to the jumper J35 on the DK. I checked that all the jumpers of the DK are in the factory default position. I also tried to set the DK to factory default condition by running EEPROMMassErase() and than compiling one of the examples.

I don't get any errors or warnings when I compile the examples.

Does anyone have an idea why the LCD is not showing anything?

    Short addendum: The example code is also running properly, so it doesn't enter any FaultISR loops or anything like that.

    Hello Lukas,

    I had actually have observed the same with one of my boards before, but it was a situation where I couldn't update the application code via the ICDI and only via the JTAG.

    Is this a new board you just received that isn't working out of the box?

    Can you double check that the ribbon cable on the bottom of the board is properly connected to the LCD?

    Hello Ralph,

    about four month ago I used this board for the first time and after powering up the board, the example qs_weather showed up on the LCD display. In the meantime I used the board only a couple of times, but not the LCD display in special.

    I checked the ribbon cable and it is properly connected to the LCD.

    We found the problem.. A condensator on the ribbon cable got ripped off and with that four tracks got interrupted. We are trying to fix that.

    Do you have any schematics of the LCD Display respectively the ribbon cable? In the evaluation board datasheet there are no schematics of these (extern) parts. I found no schematics of the Display / ribbon cable after searching in the www.

    Hello Lukas,

    That part comes from a third party so we do not own of the schematic/BOM for it. We purchase it as is which is the part number K350QVG-V2-F. That part already has the ribbon attached and we don't have details for that.

    You may want to consider trying to do an RMA for the EVM from who you purchased it from.
