COP8 legacy help needed

I have been offered a project that requires the support of legacy hardware, and I need COP8 assembler and development software.  Does anyone have anything in their personal archives that could work for me?  If so, but it requires Windows 98 or Windows XP to operate, I have legacy systems running offline for specialty projects like this. Thanks in advance for you help!

  • Hi Tom,

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, we do not have any COP8 development tools actively supported at TI. I did find a list of development tools in one of the COP8 datasheets that may be helpful; see page 71 of the attachment.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • That datasheet is one of many I already have in my archives.  Page 70 pretty much lists the resources I already know I need, which would be either COP8–NSEVAL or COP8-NSDEV so I could have access to an IDE an assembler for the COP8.  It was my hope that some engineer somewhere hangs on to legacy items like these and would be willing to share, or that TI might find these development resources after doing an extremely deep dive into the dusty archives.  A few years back, Intel was able to offer me this kind of support for some ancient restorations I was doing for some of my clients with equipment based on 8008 and 4040 processors.  It was my hope that TI would be able to do the same.  At this point, I will have to resort to pencil and paper to try to crunch out the code by hand.  Fortunately, I have a programmer in my collection that will support the COP8 series.

  • Hi Tom,

Unfortunately, I could not find COP8-NSEVAL or COP8-NSDEV in our internal software database, nor the CDs in our internal inventory database. I am not aware of anyone who has these tools at TI.
