LM3S9997 Always burning out

e2e.ti.com/.../934990

Other than the dead LDO, do you see the rest of the pins functioning?

There is no way to tell because we cannot connect to the MCU via the debug pin

Is the VDD properly supplied to the MCU? Can you still connect to the devices?

No Connect. VDD is properly supplied. We have sold thousands of this product and has worked ok for over ten years.

Do you have proper decoupling capacitors on the VDD and VDDC?

Yes we do

Do you know if the flash content is still intact? I wish I could provide some tips to check.

No Connect – there is no way to tell. We had “locked” the MCU so that users cannot download the flash content. We are locked out from accessing the flash – normally it is possible to program it via a programmer.

  • Hello Ambrose,

Charles is out for the next couple days but I have a follow-up question.

With the device locked as you have described, have you tried to do a device unlock? This can be done with LMFlash Programmer and works for Tempest-class devices too.
