Thank you for your help. I just want to confirm that for the software based 1-wire connection to any GPIO, "by taking care of parameters" you mean that these standards in the datasheet just need to met and followed for their low and high outputs? Also, if any pin can be used then I can just use the SDA pin of the microcontroller because the AT21CS01 microchip IC emulates I2C software protocol so I was wondering if I could just follow that software implementation.

Sorry, I can not understand your requirements & question very clearly.

Could you tell me the EEPROM part number you used? 1-Wire protocol or AT21CS01?

If you use some EEPROM that have I2C interface, you can use the I2C module of MSP430, and if you use the 1-Wire protocol EEPROM, you need to implement 1-wire protocol with software base on the requirements of EEPROM(you can use any port).

Hi Johnson,

I am using the AT21CS01, which is a 1-wire product but in its datasheet it says the chip can emulate I2C protocol. So I just want to make sure I can wire the SDA pin from the MSP432 to the SI/O pin of the AT21CS01. Then, I follow the software based implementation by writing the code to do all the reading/writing of bits and timing from the MSP432 as the master of the bus and have the AT21CS01 chip as a slave on the bus. Attached is the part of the datasheet that mentions the I2C emulation.
