CCS/TMS570LS3137: How to connect BA[0] with 16 Bit Asynchronous Slave.

I am working with TMS570LS3137 Via. EMIF i am interfacing FPGA with TMS570LS3137. I want to connect 24-bit address lines of FPGA with TMS. how to connect address lines with TMS?

In reference manual, it is given that BA[1] should be connected to A[0] of 16-bit Async slave. So, How to connect BA[0] with slave?

Hello Gayathri,

From EMIF wise, the EMIF_BA[0] can be used as EMIF_A[22] when the EMIF is interfacing with 16-bit memory. Since the device has limited Async memory size of 16MB, the EMIF_BA[0] can not be used as EMIF_A[22] for this device.

Hi,

Is it possible to use GPIO pins for higher addresses?

For eg. If i am using CS3 for 16-Bit slave, then what will be the start and end address. In datasheet it is given as 0x64000000 - 0x67FFFFFF, whether it is for 64MB or 16MB?

Hi,

I think It is possible to access >16MB memory location using GIO pins to toggle the highest memory address pins (A[24:23]).

Is that memory address range enough to access more than 16MB?

Whether i need to utilize full range 0x64000000 - 0x67FFFFFF to access 16MB?

Hello,

The only memory range you can access is rom 0x6400_0000 to 0x64FF_FFFF (16MB). To access upper 16-MB, set the GIO pin which is connected to Aync_RAM[23] to 1 to access the upper 16MB. From EMIF point of view, the Aync_RAM is 16MB device.
