Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

We are using TMS570LC4357 Hercules microcontroller. We use GNU compiler to build our platform and applications. Everything built works fine on the target, but the Code Composer Studio is not recognizing many symbols (global data parameters) and they cannot be added to watch window. We are using .elf to load the symbols and also the binary content into target flash.

Earlier, when we used to CCS TI compiler, .out used to get loaded on the target with which we did not had any issues. We are using CCS 8.2, we would like to understand why CCS is not recognizing some symbols, though they are in .map file.

    The first thing that comes to mind is if the code is optimized. The symptoms you mentioned are common when trying to debug heavily optimized code. What is the optimization level being used? If optimization is enabled, try disabling it to improve the debug experience.

    If optimization is disabled but the issues persist, please provide a small reproducible test case (project + source).
