HERCULES_SAFETY_MCU_DEMOS: Hercules Rm42x Launchpad EVK

Part Number: HERCULES_SAFETY_MCU_DEMOS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Hello,

I want to implement LIN communication using SCI/LIN module on Hercules RM42x Launchpad EVK.

According to TRM for RM42x MCU has only one SCI/LIN module (Refer below figure).

So, Do I need to enable LIN driver in HALCogen?

And LIN Tx and LIN Rx pins are not available on this EVK. Is it correct to use SCI1_Tx and SCI1_Rx?

  • Hi Jigna,

The LIN/SCI module can be configured to operate in either SCI or LIN mode. LIN mode is selected by enabling LIN MODE bit in SCIGCR1 register. Enabling LIN driver in HALCoGen will enable LIN Mode bit in SCIGCR register.

yes, they are SCI1_Tx and SCI1_Rx. The Launchpad doesn't include LIN transceiver.

  • Hello,

Thank you QJ Wang for your reply.

I have done the following settings in HALCogen and also enabled LIN mode Bit in SCIGCR1 register :

    1. Enable LIN driver

    2. Enabled Rx INT in LIN Global.

    3. LIN data format: 9.6kHz Baudrate

I have used APIs from lin.c for communication and SCI1_Tx & SCI1_Rx for checking output.

    Is it correct way?

  • Yes, you can probe the data on TX and RX pins. LIN and SCI modules share the same pins. For proper LIN communication, a LIN transceiver is needed.
