automotive industry digital input output protection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ESD351

hii , i am designing a project for the automotive industry

the project includes a microcontroller  and i need an IC that is designed to protect the input output of the microcontroller '

can you recommend of an IC that can provide a protection in the automotive environment.

  • Hi Aied,

We may have a solution for you - but I just want to ask a couple questions to make sure that we are looking at the right parts from our side.

    1. Are you trying to clamp overvoltage/undervoltage events due to transients?

    2. Does the below diagram accurately describe the application:

    3) How many inputs are you protecting

    4) What voltage are the microcontroller pins rated for in this application?

    Please let me know!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson

  • hii :)

yes , i trying to protect the MCU inputs overvoltage/under voltage events due to transients in the automotive environment and the diagram describes what i need

  • Hi Aied,

What are the normal operating voltage levels of the MCU you are trying to protect? How many lines are you trying to protect and what is the signal speed?

    Regards,

    Matt Smith

  • hii

my voltage levels of MCU pins is normal 3.3 volts

    speed up to 700K max

10 to 20 lines i am trying to protect .

if there an iC that can take a number of pins and protect them together i would like to get recommendation and i would like to get  recommendation  for IC that can protect individual GPIO OR 2 GPIO ALSO IS GOOD

    THANKS FOR HELP

  • Hi Aied,

For GPIO, I would recommend ESD351. It is a 3.6 V unidirectional device with a 30 kV IEC 61000-4-2 ESD rating. Would this be sufficient for you?

    Regards,

    Matt Smith
