TMDSCNCD28388D: Replacement for unavailable ICs parts for the reference design of TMDSCNCD28388D control card

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28388D, , TLK105

I am Making Design for TMS320F28388D Microcontroller referred to reference design of TMDSCNCD28388D and couldn't find many IC's available in stock

I found replacement with available stock for
1- reference: Ethernet transceiver "DP83822IRHBR" - Replacement: "TLK105", But TI doesn't recommend to use it in new designs.
2- reference: Emulator "FT2232H-REEL" - Replacement: "FT4232H-REEL".
3- reference: ESD Protection "TPD2E001DRLRG4" - Replacement: "TPD3E001DRLR".
4- reference: Digital Isolator "ISO7220CDR" - Replacement: "MAX12930FASA".

Are these replacements will give me the same functionality without any problems ?

I couldn't find replacement for
1- TPD4S012DRYR "SON-6" ESD PROTECTION IC - 60W.
2- TCAN1044VDDFR "SOT-23-8" CAN Transceiver.
3- TPS62420DRCR "VSON-10" Switching Regulator.
4- OPT3001DNPR "USON-6" AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR.

Are there any replacement for these parts can be used with the same design and give the same functionality?

  • Hi Amr,

I apologize for the delay in responding.  Looks like TI had challenges assigning a relevant engineer to your thread.  That's not our goal.

First, I would ask whether you really need to put all the F28388D controlCARD's circuitry on your board.  Specifically, page 9 & 10 of the F28388D controlCARD provide an on-board debug probe.  For your design, I might recommend removing this circuitry entirely.  And instead add a JTAG header, as described in the "Connecting the 14-pin JTAG header" figure in the device datasheet.  This will remove your stocking challenges for items 2, 3, and 4.  It will also create a simpler board.  You will need to buy a debug probe to plug into the JTAG header though.  One example is the XDS110 (https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU110-U).

For Item 1, the DP83822IRHBR, I would recommend posting this question in the Interface forum (https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum).  Engineers in that product line will be able to give better guidance.

Similarly for your second list, I would recommend reaching out to the relevant E2E forum that supports each device you're looking at.  As above, they'll be able to give better advice as they will be working more frequently with those devices.

    Hopefully this helps!

    Thank you,
    Brett
