TIDM-02002: Can you help review if it ok to choose DAB for our application ?

Part Number: TIDM-02002

Hi

My customer is considering using dual active bridge for their application. Their Bi-directional DC/DC requirement are

1. voltage range at the primary side : 15 ~ 90 V

2. voltage range at the 2nd side : 15 ~ 90 V

3. power range : 300W

Can dual active bridge topology be used for my customer's system condition ?

Can you share is there any advantage or disadvantage using DAB in this case ?

  • I am unsure what the answer to this would be. Let me inquire and get back to you.

This is a low power system so I am unsure what would be the best topology to use.

    Cody

  • Pin,

If you need a bi-directional isolated DCDC then a CLLLC or a DAB could be an option. DAB converters are much simpler to design.

If no isolation is required then a buck/boost could be used.

Selecting the FETs is a difficult task which depends on the voltages, switching frequency, power levels, and efficiency goals. All of these factors play into which topology you should select.

This is not a voltage/ power level that I am experienced with, so I don't have any recommendations. I would suggesting reaching out to the power design services team.

  • Cody,

Got it, thanks very much !
