TIDM-02002: The difference between CLLLC topology and resonant LC DAB

Part Number: TIDM-02002

Hi team,

We have reference design TIDM-02002 which is CLLLC topology.  My customer's system is residential ESS in solar system, the battery voltage is about 48V, the HVDC voltage is about 400V. My customer has a question about the difference between CLLLC topology and resonant LC DAB to their system.

Could anyone help to clarify it?

Thanks& best regards

Victoria

  • Victoria,

Which LC DAB topology is being investigated? There are a number of research papers which are beginning to explore the use of other resonant tank circuits besides CLLLC. The main advantage that I see is a reduction of components and therefore size and cost. From what I have read there still are a few technical challenges. I have not yet seen a clear description of what voltage range soft switching can be achieved or the associated efficiency numbers. (this information may exist, I simply haven't seen it)

This paper does a good job of discussing the topic and linking to relevant research papers. https://www.mdpi.com/1996-1073/15/16/5802/pdf
