TMS320F28035: cannot be flashed with XDS110 debug probe, but it works fine with XDS100v2

Part Number: TMS320F28035
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hello,

We have a board with a F28035 DSP that we have been flashing for a long time with the XDS100v2 debug probe.

Now we wanted to start using the XDS110 probe, however, it does not work, reporting the following error when used in UniFlash:

Error connecting to the target: (Error -1135 @ 0x0)

The debug probe reported an error.

Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation.

(Emulation package 9.4.0.00129)

The JTAG connections in the board are as follows:

Since the XDS110 board needs to sense the target board's 3.3V supply, we 'simulate it' by connecting the auxiliary port 3.3V signal of the probe to the VREF signal.

We know that the XDS110 probe works properly because we are able to successfully flash other boards using a F280041 DSP.

Can I have some guidance on what we may be doing wrong?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jorge,

I am not very familiar with UniFlash, so could we first try to debug this issue with Code Composer Studio (CCS)?

At the top of CCS, select 'View' > ' Target Configurations'

In the Target Configuration Menu, right click and select 'New Target Configuration', and name the file however you like.

If you open the Target Configuration, you should see a menu like below. Make sure to select the correct options for your debugger and target device, like shown below.

Once you have the target configuration file setup, you can use the 'Test Connection' button. That should test the connection from your computer to the debugger and from the debugger to the device. Depending on the log from that test, we may have more insight into what is going on. Please post that log here.

    Best Regards,

    Ben Collier
