C2000-GANG: Can't write program

Can you give some more detail on what is meant by press and hold the power switch?  The gang programmer is going to look the PD pin on the JTAG header to show that the device is powered; if that is going inactive then I think the GANG will throw the above errors.

With the device powered, and starting the GANG GUI are you able to do simple commands like erase the device?

After a microcontroller reset, the power switch circuit is automatically switched off and the microcontroller will not start unless the power switch is held down.

The tester confirmed that 3.3 V is output from the PD terminal.

No. As with writing, the application crashes.

I'd like to narrow this down to the GANG or just flash programming in general.  Is it possible to connect the C2000 target to a PC with JTAG pod and Code Composer Studio?  We can also use uniflash vs CCS if that is simpler https://dev.ti.com/uniflash/#!/   Basically I want to see if using a different tool we can erase(and program if erase works) or we see a similar error that we cannot erase the device.  This will help us know if this is a potential PCB/electrical issue or isolated to the C2000-GANG.

Yes, erasure and programming with JTAG pods and Code Composer Studio was successful.

We will send you a schematic of the part to which the emulator is connected.
Are there any problems in using the C2000-GANG?

I'm going to ask Elpro representative to take a look at this post for comment.  I'm not sure why C2000-GANG would have an issue if CCS/JTAG is working correctly.

It is difficult to try because it involves changing the GPIO34 circuit.
GPIO34 is pulled up with an external resistor.

The fact that the XDS200 DEBUG PROBE is being written to successfully suggests that there is nothing wrong with the circuit, but are the Memory Option and Security settings correct?

Hi Matthew,

As you indicated, I deleted the old FW and installed the new FW.
I tried Read, but I get a clock error.
It seems to only stand up to 5.0 MHz as opposed to 10 MHz.

Can we try what was suggested in that post, i.e. enable all 8 sites on the GANG GUI to see if that resolves things?  The 5MHz is odd, since GANG uses the internal 0-pin oscillator as the clock source, so it should always be 10MHz.

Hi Matthew,

Progress has been made since the change of conditions. We will send you the details.

We have verified this on the same board, but sometimes the write succeeds and sometimes it fails.
Also, when the speed is set to low, such as 'JTAG Slow' or '9.6 kb/s', it almost always fails.
What is the cause? And are there any remedies?

Sorry for the late response, 3P is looking at the images you attached at the top of the thread.  For speed related issues, sometimes the JTAG ribbon cable length is in play, this looks to be the cable that came with the GANG, correct?

Yes, the cable supplied with the GANG is used.

I think the speed settings are to compensate if there is a longer cable run in place, I'm not sure if it is valid to use those here.  Is there a need to slow down the connection, or was this just experimentation from the customer?
