I'm not aware of any RS232-to-EtherCAT converter products. Do you have some reference to them? Supporting EtherCAT communications will have both hardware (ESC, Ethernet PHY, RJ45, etc.) and software (slave stack SW) requirements.

The newer C2000 device F2838x has EtherCAT slave module integrated in the MCU device. It can interface with an external Ethernet PHY and the slave stack code can run on one of the F2838x CPUs. Our teams recommendation for adding EtherCAT comms would be to use the F2838x device.

Can I use the FB1111-0141 (SPI) with TMS320F2335?

Hi Shakil,

I think it's possible. The challenge I see is more on the software side, i.e. running the EtherCAT SW stack on the F2833x device and interfacing with the ET1100 over SPI.

We have interfaced an ET1100 with a newer C2000 device before (F2837x). You can find some details on that below:

Thank you for your response. We are using TMS320F28335 in our device, and we want this controller to be monitored and controlled (only few parameters) by our client in their  EtherCAT master system, I mean our device and etherCAT controller i.e FB1111 will be acting as slave EtherCAT, my knowledge about EtherCAT is new and basic, could you tell me what steps would I need to take in order to implement it, also please tell me briefly about the EtherCAT stack code.

You can install C2000WARE and reference the documentation / material for F2838x device. Similar processes can likely be followed for F2833x device, however we do not have HAL drivers for F2833x device. More info below:
