TMS320F280039C: Launchpad MCAN speed and setup via simulink

We have a few TMS320F280039C launchpad and I wanted to know how to use the MCAN modules via simulink. In the C2000 motor control blockset I only see CAN FD pack and unpack blocks. Previously I used the classic CAN with the eCAN recieve and eCAN transmit blocks, but I don't see the option to change those. When I attempt to run the code I get an error as the expected input data type is not CAN FD (it is just set as CAN message). Is there a way to utilize the CAN FD via Simulink?

My second question is how fast can the CAN FD be for the TMS320F280037C MCU. We got the TMS320F280039C launchpad as it was the closest MCU to the one we were planning on using however its onboard CAN transciever is 1Mbps (same as classic CAN). Can either of these MCU run at a faster speed for the MCAN if they have a faster transciever?

Hello Joshua,

For the second question, the current launchpad does not use the rev G TCAN. It uses the 1Mbps version. If you are able to replace the transceiver on the launchpad with TCAN332G which is footprint-compatible with TCAN332, you should be able to attain 5Mbps on MCAN. Use the bit timing setup below to attain 5Mbps:

The main issue that I am having is that the library doesn't have a block for eCAN recieve for CAN FD, or at least I don't see it in the C2000 motor control blockset. I do see the CAN FD for the unpack and pack though.

I have looked through Omer's post but I don't see information on how to set up the MCAN messaging for simulink on the TMS320f280039C launchpad. I do not see any MCAN recieve blocks in the C2000 motor control blockset (for the 28003x portion). If I use the CAN FD unpack with the eCAN recieve from the 28003x blockset it gives an error as the message is CAN not CANFD. I see the MCAN recieve block for the 2838x portion. I have downloaded simulink coder, embedded coder, C2000 add on as well as other 3rd party software for code generation. I am able to get the CAN messaging to work, but now we are in need of the CANFD. If there is additional software specifically for the CANFD please let me know
