TMS320F280025C: CAN not working after securing memory

Hello,

I have secured the all the flash sectors and RAM memory with CSM password.

I have flashed CAN bootloader along with DCSM confifgurations.

So, now I am expecting that controller should respond to CAN commands.

But CAN is going into error and controller is not responding.

What could be the probable causes?

Yogini,

The DCSM module has no impact on the operation of the CAN module and vice versa. What the DCSM module impacts is access to secure resources. Without security enabled, does CAN communication work?

Hello Hareesh,

Apologize for late response.

I have secured entire RAM as well. So, is it affecting the CAN communication?

Because, CAN comm worked without OTP configurations.

Hi Yogini,

Are you copying any code from flash to RAM in your application? If so, you must use the secureCopyCode function. This could be the reason for your application not working when locking the device.

No, as I mentioned before, DCSM does not impact the operation of any module in the device. What it does impact is access to Flash/RAM that is secured. For example, when the device is secured, read access to secure Flash and RAM is blocked. Luke makes a good point about using secureCopyCode function. Before expecting proper code execution, you need to ensure your code is indeed present in the expected memory locations.

Hi Luke,

I have assined few functions to RAM. But RAM and flash are secured with same zone only and with CSM password.

Hello Hareesh,

CAN communication is now establishing, when I disconnect the debugger. But now I am getting unexpected values in the CAN frames. This code works properly, on the other controllers where RAM and Flash are not secured with CSM password.

As per TRM, secure copy function only works for EXEonly memory. In my case, I have not configured EXEonly protection.

Yogini,

This is not a CAN issue per se, but a DCSM issue. I am out for 3 weeks but Luke will be able to help with the DCSM issues.
