Hi team,
My customer wants evaluate TIDM-1000 as their PFC solution.
If use 500R as load and normally work. But if parallel BLDC at DC bus. (Customer test load only BLDC 300W+ 500R Risitance)
The step will damage TIDM-1000.
Is it possible to perform such a test on TIDM1000? Thanks
Hi Jimmy,
Yes, it shouldnt be a problem unless the total load is within the limits, otherwise control needs to be adjusted for the new load.
1. What is the step change added here?
2. Did customer try using build 4, is this correct?
3. What failure is observed? and is there any specific condition customer wants to run this?
Best,
Uttam
Hi Team,
Is it necessary to use a 500R resistor for EVM testing? If use build 4 to test EVM. Can the output be noloaded?
Before test if no use 500R then can not boost to correct voltage. Is it normally?
Jimmy,
You would need to connect load as mentioned in the design guide.

Uttam
Hi team,
yes, based on the user guide to test is okay. How to modify the hardware or firmware so that the output can be close to no-load output? thanks
Hi Jimmy,
You dont need to change anything, recently I have seen another customer trying at light load (around 25W to 1000W). They don't see any issue.
Here is an ongoing E2E for your reference: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000-microcontrollers-group/c2000/f/c2000-microcontrollers-forum/1357639/tidm-1000-problem-when-sudden-change-in-load-in-vienna-rectifier
Its good to double check from the customer end how the fan is connected (or) try at similar light load resistor and run the setup first.
Thanks & Regards,
Uttam
