Hi experts,
Can the F28388D be connected to a product that requires a 21-bit address bus?
Specifically I would like to access more than 128Mb of memory.(S29GL512S10TFI010)
If not, is there a compatible product in the C2000 series? Is the AM263x the closest alternative?
Best regards,
O.H
Hi O.H.
I am consulting fellow experts on this question, will confirm with you shortly

Peter
Hi Peter,
Thank you for the reply. And sorry for rush you.
Is there any update? It would be helpful if you could tell me the situation.
Best regards,
O.H
Hi Peter,
Sorry for rush you.
It's fine to reply via private chat, so I would appreciate it if you could reply.
Best regards,

Hi O.H.,
Apologies for delay in response due to natural disaster impacting Texas area. The EMIF peripheral should support a 21-bit address size but depends on the C2000 package you are using and the multiplexing pin requirements for other peripherals used in the system. This can be verified with our C2000 SysConfig tool. Per the EMIF design application report
"Some EMIF implementations may face pin multiplexing conflicts on the address pins when used with word sizes smaller than 32-bits or when the byte-enable signals are used."
Still, the supported memory size is dependent on the memory size but would have maximum of 32 Mb supported. What is the use case for needing to connect to 128 Mb of memory? Can leverage optimization feature to reduce memory size

Peter

We are currently checking with the customer regarding the use case, and we believe it is possible to reduce the Flash memory capacity to match the limitations of the C2000. We will share the information as soon as it becomes available.
The F28388D supports a 21-bit address bus, so this is an option that could be considered, but they are also considering the AM2631 as an alternative option.

Hi O.H.,
Yes, please provide update once available. Since 128 Mb is high requirement for embedded environment depending on application. Depending on the bandwidth requirement, it could be possible to interface with some external memory such as SD card through a SPI interface at higher latency

Peter
