TMS320F28388D: USB boot loader vs SCI boot loader

Part Number: TMS320F28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE

Tool/software:

Hello all,

It's been almost a week that I've been actively working on a solution for USB boot loader on F28388D, I had to change the clock on the control card to 20MHz and was able to put the USB in boot mode and in my device manager I can see that, However I have the following questions:

  1. Now that I see the bootloader causing the DSP to appear in device manager as a beautiful "Stellaris Device Firmware upgrade", however I see on the forum we need to put the Flash Kernel code on the DSP and it's not ready for F28388D !!! many suggest migrating the Flash kernel for F2837xD and so on with a lot of tricks, but seriously this is not a good solution, so how TI could verify if their boot loader works if there is no Kernel developed for it? am I missing something here? [original post here]

  2. So If I don't want to make the USB kernel for F28388D, will I be able to use the boot loader? if yes, just following the F2837xD steps to convert the .out file to a .dat file for the application will be enough?

  3. In case if the answer to 2nd question is positive, how can I have safety? I want to lock my code with a password, and not allow reading it from the DSP , my application once it runs, it unlocks itself...

Thanks in advance

John
