TMS320LF2407A: Need a specific CCS Version to support legacy defense system

Tool/software:

I need a version of CCS V1 to support a legacy defense system.

I'm not sure of the exact dot release, but looking at the CCS outputs from 20 years ago, I see that the code generation tools were version 7.0.0.

We're supporting the TMS320LF2407A device, and we have a couple XDS510PP Plus debuggers. Therefore, it looks like we'll also need the right driver if TI didn't bundle it in this particular CCS version.

Lastly, I can provide more information about the system were supporting via email (non public).

Please check out the https://www.ti.com/tool/CCSTUDIO3 page to find a version of CCS that supports the F24x devices. Please confirm if this offers the necessary drivers.

Thank you for the reply. I haven't been able to find the specific CCS V1 release that matches what the development team used 20 years ago. My customer certainly had a license for it, but the original development PC(s) are no longer working.

Can we please take this offline, and I'll be happy to provide additional details. Again, this is for an important defense system.

Hi Bob,

Are you able to update your IDE to CCSSTUDIOv3? It is the only version available and should have the device support you require. Let me know if you have issues setting it up.

Please note that the device in question attained End-of-Life (EOL) and the associated tool chains are no longer maintained and are obsolete. The forum post below has some common information that might be able to help you.

Thank you Ozino. Although it would be preferred to have the exact same version as the original development team, we should be able to also make use of CCSV3.3. However, as you probably know, the compiler and other build tools are not included with the archive you make available for the F2407A. How can we get the build tools to create a full CCS release? I should be able to prove to you that we have one or more licenses (offline).

Thank you Ozino, but the CCSV3.3 that has been made available to use via the TI website lacks the actual build tools, such as the compiler. I have seen on other EE Forum threads that the build tools are withheld due to a license being required.

I believe we have the right license but lack the right tools. Therefore, I believe I need additional help in setting up a full CCSV3.3 build & debug environment.

I've tagged a CCS expert that can comment further on the build tools. In the meantime, can you list out the tools needed besides the compiler.

Please note that the latest compiler version supported in CCS for C2000: 5.2.1.

Hello Ozino,

I'm looking forward to hearing back from your CCS expert, and I have also connected with you privately.

Regarding the CCSV3.3 build tools for the F2407A, the archive provided by TI is basically missing all build tools under the C2400/cgtools folder. We should see tools like bin/dspcl, bin/dsplnk, bin/dspmk, etc.

Our customer definitely had a license or licenses for CCS using the F2407A. And if the licenses can't be found, I'm sure we're willing to buy a new license. Please let me know next steps. Thank you.

The CCS 3.3 version we have publicly available intentionally does not have F24 support because of licensing restriction. Please start a private conversation with me to discuss how to obtain the version you need.
