TMS320F28027: PWM and HWPWM Max resolution

Hello,

Can I ask why you are needing high resolution on such a slow PWM frequency for your application? You can refer to the TRM and datasheet in terms of evaluating the resolution - in general, HRPWM adds 8-bit resolution.

This is for precision control of a power delivered to a (heater) device over a wide target temperature range. For instance if my heater can get the device to from e.g. 25 to 125C and I want to regulate to 1 mK then 16 bits almost get me there. 18 give me a few bits between set points.

If TI still made a synchronous >8 bit counter with the counts available at the output and reset + carry i might be able to roll my own, but this has been hard to find.

High frequency PWM requires more careful testing and component selection for the duty cycles near max and min (rise/fall times power supply dynamic response, etc...)
