TMS320F2800157-Q1: The flash write/erase cycles

Hi, experts,

In other E2E threads, it is said the Write/Erase Cycles per Sector is 20k, while Write/Erase Cycles for Entire Flash (Combined for all Sectors) is 100k. And this is listed in F28003x datasheet, as below.

But in F2800157 datasheet, there is only number of Write/Erase Cycles per Bank(4), which is 100k, with the note "The combined total of bank and sector write/erase cycles is limited to this number.".

Please help to confirm whether the cycles number parameters are the same for F28003x and F280015x. Thanks.

Hi Fan,

F2800157 only has 1 Bank which is why the write/erase cycles is in terms of bank. To write and erase the whole flash is max 100000 cycles which is the same as the F28003x device.

Hi, Marlyn,

How about the cycles for sector? Is it also 20k for each sector, and the total cycles for the bank is 100k?

For example, if I erase/write Sector-1 for 20k cycles, then Sector-2 for 20k cycles, and so forth. After doing these operations on Sector-1 to Sector-5, the total cycles is 100k, then is it OK to erase/write on Sector-6 and subsequent sectors?

Hi Fan,

We do not have this data per sector. However, the 100k write/erase max cycles per bank, doesn’t get divided per sector when we have 128 sectors (256KB). The way to read this is that we can rewrite any Flash sector max to 100k times in a given bank either through sector erase / bank erase combined together.
