Tool/software:
Hi,
Good Day.
The launchpad was not recognized by windows - notated by windows as an 'unrecognizable USB device.'
My customer tried different cables, different USB ports on the first laptop, and different USB ports on a second laptop to no result.
After going through all the cables and ports, he noticed that the Windows USB chime wasn't playing at all when plugging the launchpad in via USB.
Using the Windows device manager, he attempted to locate and update firmware but was unsuccessful. He noticed in Coms/Ports that Com5 and Com6 were greyed out but were each tagged as XDS110. He was not able to find it elsewhere in the device manager (Universal Serial Bus or Other Devices).
He tried pressing/holding/releasing the S1 switch to enter DFU mode, but the launchpad still doesn't show up.
Additionally, the xdsdfu -e, -r, etc. Windows command prompts return a message saying, '0 devices found.'
He is using the latest - CCS 20.0.2, and the last thing he tried last night was a fresh CCS install.
He'll try some older versions. The project he is working on is well documented and he noticed he is on CSS 9. He is trying 9.0 now, 9.3 didn't have the necessary debug, or at least the one that he had in his install. The install window just notes CCS9.
Progress seems to have been made, but he still need some help.
He installed CCS 9.0 (the oldest version of 9.0) and was able to get the board to connect – or at least the Windows chime sounded when it was connected. It still does not appear in device manager though.
When he attempts to connect to and debug a program with the launchpad, he is seeing this message now:
Error connecting to the target:
(Error -260 @ 0x0)
An attempt to connect to the XDS110 failed.
The cause may be one or more of: no XDS110 is connected, invalid
firmware update, invalid XDS110 serial number, or faulty USB
cable. The firmware and serial number may be updated using the
xdsdfu utility found in the .../ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110
directory of your installation. View the ReadMe.txt file there
for instructions.
(Emulation package 8.1.0.00005)

Please advise. Thank you very much.
Best Regards,
Ray Vincent
