VREFHI value for the ADC of TMS320F28377D

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28377D, TMS320F2837, CONTROLSUITE, TMDSCNCD28379D

Hi all,

just a very simple question. In the datasheet of TMS320F28377D, I read that the ADC VREFHI can be 2.5V or 3V.

Is VREFHI = 3V for TMS320F28377D?

thank you

Leonardo

  • Hi,

    Is VREFHI = 3V for TMS320F28377D?

Only two options of VREFHI input for TMS320F28377D chip. you can provide either 2.5V or 3.0V as VREFHI

  • Thanks Aditya. Sorry for my beginner level, but how do I do this? i.e. how do I know if VREFHI=3V?

I am powering F28377D Delfino Experimenter Kit from a 5V power supply and communicating with it via a usb cable to my computer.

    Thanks

    Leonardo
  • Hi Leanardo,

Please go through the below infosheet document for those information.

    TMDSCNCD28377D-Infosheet_v1_5.pdf

Based on switch settings, VREFHI will be selected.

  • Hi Leanardo,

In experimeter's kit we have option to select 3.0V or 3.3V. For device we can provide VREFHI as 2.5V, 3.0V or VDDA.

  • Hi Leonardo,

I wanted to clarify that what Aditya is describing is true of the controlCARD evaluation kit.

The TMS320F2837*D chip isn't quite so specific.  However, an important thing to know is that there is no internal way to source VREFHI.  They must be supplied externally.  The image you posted above (from the datasheet) provides the range of voltage reference inputs that can be used.

If you wish to use an evaluation kit as a guide for what might be possible, I'd recommend taking a look at the controlCARD schematics within controlSUITE:
    \controlSUITE\development_kits\~controlCARDs\TMDSCNCD28379D_v1_0\R1_3\

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Thanks Aditya, very helpful. OK, since I am using the card TMDXCNCD28377D (and not the chip only) my switch setting is: SW3 and SW4 all to the right and SW2 all up. VREFHI should be 3.3V in this configuration if I have understood correctly. It would be great if you can confirm. Thanks a lot, Leonardo
  • Thanks Brett, at the moment I am using the control card. I could not see the folder TMDSCNCD28379D_v1_0 inside the path you have specified... maybe I need to update my control suite? thanks Leonardo
  • Hi leanardo,

Yes. In this case, VEREFHI will be selected as 3.3V.

  • Thank you Aditya, appreciate your help.
