EtherCAT Interface for High Performance MCU Reference Design

Hello,

I have a question to the EtherCAT Interface for High Performance MCU Reference Design. I have docking station and control card with 28377D and ethercat PiggyBack FB1111-0141 conectet together similary as is described in tidubq6.pdf, page 3, figure 3. - I am using SPI communication mode. I followed instruction which describes installing of TwinCAT3, but when I tried to program EEPROM, I found problem. Figure 26 show how should look SmartView after programming EEPROM, but my SmartView looks different - Device Identities, Mail box, Bootstrap config., and Standart config. are not set up. To program EEPROM I used pdi_test_app_spi.bin included in tidcc35.zip downloaded from reference design page.

I would like to ask you, whether I am making some mistake, or could you verify, that bin file in zip archive is ok?

Thank you,

Tomas Zurek

  • Tomas,
were you able to write E2PROM from the Smart View? If there were no errors, then once you click Read E2PROM all the contents you mentioned about should get populated. When you click read E2PROM it will ask if you want to save the contents and it is your choice.

    Hope this helps.

  • Yes, I was able to write EEPROM from smart view, but when I click read E2PROM I will get content different from fig 26:

  • I think you have it programmed correctly. Don;t worry about the product code, Revision no and serial no differences. The Snapshot in the guide was probably taken with a different EEPROM bin file programmed.

Usually customers will define the product code, revision no and serial no when they configure the EtherCAT slave. For now what you have should be good.

Please let us know if you have any more questions.
