Regarding matlab 2013a and c2000 integration and errors

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28027, CCSTUDIO, CONTROLSUITE

Respected Sir/Mam,

I tried to program tms320f28027 for a simple gpio toggle application, but when i tried to build the simulink embedded coder the below are the errors I have encountered ( I have already connected the target )

Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe_0/C28xx (Suspended)
0x3FF7BF (no symbols are defined for 0x3FF7BF)

below are the  errors generated when build has completed to matlab simulink

So as the above error says the target is not connected but intially i have connected the target

and after this i see the

target disconneccted ( suspeneded ) error in ccsv6 window

so i tried to check the test connection option in target configuration

[Start: Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe_0]

Execute the command:

%ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -rv -o -F inform,logfile=yes -S pathlength -S integrity

[Result]

-----[An error has occurred and this utility has aborted]--------------------

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-151' (0xffffff69).
The title is 'SC_ERR_FTDI_OPEN'.

The explanation is:
One of the FTDI driver functions used during
the connect returned bad status or an error.
The cause may be one or more of: invalid XDS100 serial number,
blank XDS100 EEPROM, missing FTDI drivers, faulty USB cable.
Use the xds100serial command-line utility in the 'common/uscif'
folder to verify the XDS100 can be located.

[End: Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Debug Probe_0]

after this i tired to reset the controller board ( by making it power off and on ) then again i tried to check the test connection in target configuration.

So can any body help me out and correct my mistakes

Anuroop

  • Hi Anuroop,

    Check this thread: e2e.ti.com/.../484814

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • Respected Sir,
    I have the reuired tools but the above error is troubling me could you help me out in solving that ( the target is getting disconnected when the .out file getting to be generated .

    Regards,
    Anuroop
  • And i'm not using any evaluation board but custom designed board with tms320f28027 controller and the required jtag terminal and components, for verification i tried to connect the board with ccsv6 and loaded the adc program too.
  • Can you try with controlSuite example instead of Matlab? If so, check example codes available here:
    C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2802x\v230\f2802x_examples_structs
  • Sir,

    I'm able to compile and load the program without matlab perfectly but I also need to do with matlab.

    Regards,

    Anuroop

  • Sorry Anuroop, this forum is meant only for CCS based support and not Matlab. Please check the above post to navigate to simulink forums.
  • Hi,

    This looks like a build error because MathWorks tools cant connect to the target. I'm not sure if this is because the USB communication socket is locked to something else and MathWorks tools are blocked from using it, or if the base USB driver is not properly installed.

    I'd double check the USB cable and connections. If you are still having issues and build errors, you can always contact MathWorks Technical Support for immediate assistance.

  • A bit more info. We think this is probably a connectivity error - it doesn't appear you can download via CCS, and if you cant do that, the method of downloading from MathWorks tools will definitely not work (we leverage CCS to download to the hardware).

  • Respected Sir,

                              Thank you for helping me out, and i figured out the issue as when i'm trying to launch the new target configuration i left the target connect and when I'm trying to debug and load the program the matlab is making the target disconnected and the above mentioned FTDI Error has been displayed,

    so by leaving the target disconnected before debugging the simulink model, I'm able to overcome the ftdi error.

    Regards,

    Anuroop

  • Respected Sir,

                             I'm unable to display the adc values on the simulink scpoe with RTDX as i'm new to the simulink and ccs environment. after surfing for help I tried to find a command called

    >> rtdxtutorial

    but when i tried to excute in the matlab window

    below are the errors I observed

    >> rtdxtutorial
    ==================================================================
    The RTDXTUTORIAL is an example script intended to get the user
    started with the RTDX.

    A simple target DSP application is loaded and run on the target
    DSP, and data messages are transferred via RTDX between the host
    application (MATLAB) and the target DSP. The tutorial writes
    integers 1:10 to the target DSP. The target DSP takes the array
    of integers, increments it by 1, and writes the resultant array
    to the host. This action is performed 20 successive times, with
    each iteration incrementing the previous array result by one.
    The 20 messages are read using various output formats.
    ==================================================================

    Error using Link.ccssetup/Connect
    Cannot start CCS application (COM error ID: 0x80040154).
    Verify that your CCS software is installed and configured
    properly.

    Error in ccsboardinfo (line 68)
    ccssetup.Connect(); % Connect to CCS Setup

    Error in getNumTargetsInCcsSetup (line 7)
    setupinfo = ccsboardinfo;

    Error in selectBoardProcNumbers (line 13)
    numTargets = getNumTargetsInCcsSetup;

    Error in rtdxtutorial (line 42)
    [boardNum,procNum] = selectBoardProcNumbers;

    so how can i correct the very  starting error (COM error ID: 0x80040154) as it say LINKCCSSETUP error, is their any linking file missing and the ccs version i'm using is

    CCSv6.1.1.00022

    Regards,

    Anuroop

  • Hi Anuroop,

    I don't know anything about RTDX, so I cant help with that.

    MathWorks didn't support CCS v6 until R2015a, so it is possible that this wont work with R2013a, and may be one reason you are getting errors. You may wish to update your MathWorks software to R2015a or newer if you wish to use CCS v6. R2013a does support CCS v5.

    If the upgrade doesn't help you can try contacting MathWorks Technical Support.
