Emulation tool

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28031, CONTROLSUITE, TMDSDOCK28035

Hello all,

We use the TMS320f28031 in our company. I would like to know if there are any emulation software tools available for this micro controller where we can emulate our product for testing and troubleshooting and even developing. I have used Proteus before for smaller projects but will that support this micro controller. Please let me know. Thank you

  • Hi Binesh,

We have developed evaluation kits + emulator setups which are relatively cheap enough that the need for a 'simulator' is reduced.  This is especially true if you wish to interact with the chip and its peripherals directly.  Here my definition of a simulator is a tool that allows you to run C code without a piece of hardware - such as controlSUITE examples via CCS.  For the F2803x series, a TMDSDOCK28035 would be a good development kit.

That being said, there is a place for software tools that simulate our chip as part of a system.  For example, for control system modeling.  I have not used Proteus specifically, but it looks like there is an option for their software tools to work with a C2000 device.  Other tools in this category are Matlab and VisSim (there are other good ones as well).

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • there are many of these type of HW/SW/model based simulation tools for C2000

    Mathworks Simulink & Embedded Target

    VisSim

    Plexim PLECS

    PowerSim

    Typhoon HIL

  • Hi Binesh,

You can get some info on the MathWorks solution using MATLAB, Simulink, and Embedded Coder here:
