TMS320F28027: TMDSHVPSFBKIT Questions

Part Number: TMS320F28027

Hi, Champs,

One of my customer is evaluating TMDSHVPSFBKIT and they have two questions here.

1. It's documented in the user guide that we support typical 400V DC input but should be able to accept 370Vdc to 410Vdc, while my customer's product would accept wide range input from 200V to 450V DC, so question is, shall we test it with the kit? If customer design their own kit following our EVM, what modifications should they make and any other considerations?

2. My customer mentioned they looked other solutions and Intersil provided another solution for PSFB topology, i.e. not to perform phase shift but only to adjust low side driver's duty cycle, do you think we can support this feature as well on this kit, and if so, what should we pay attention to?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Ricky,

    Please see my answers below:

HN: This kit can only accept 370Vdc to 410Vdc at the input. We have a TI design for a Bi-directional (400V-12V) DC-DC that accepts wider input voltage range (200V - 400V). To extend the voltage range, magnetics should be redesigned. Also, the layout may need to be modified to handle higher currents at lower voltages.

    2. My customer mentioned they looked other solutions and Intersil provided another solution for PSFB topology, i.e. not to perform phase shift but only to adjust low side driver's duty cycle, do you think we can support this feature as well on this kit, and if so, what should we pay attention to?

HN: This kit can support this feature but the default software does not. The PWM configuration and updates should be changed to incorporate this feature.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hrishi,

Thank you very much. It's clear and expected answer.
