LAUNCHXL-F28069M: Error initializing target and launching GUI composer

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M

Hi there,

I have recently encountered an issue with not being able to connect my target (launchxl-f28069M control board) with the GUI composer. The error that showed up on the GUI composer was:

I have so far crossed out several possibilities, which include:

  • Target configuration error
  • CCS installation error
  • USB-mini cable (as I could see the device successfully detected from 'Device Manager')
  • Jumpers & switch positions

I also need to mention that the control board had worked normally for 2 weeks before this error occurred, and there was no signs of hardware damage for the device.

Out of lack of time I gave up on looking for the reason for what happened and purchased another control board same as the one with the issue last week. It had worked properly this time for 2 days before the same error came up yesterday. I was conducting a current control testing using lab 5a before the GUI composer all of sudden collapsed while the motor was still rotating. I had to turn off my power supply & close the GUI in order to stop the motor. The error then occurred like last time.

Can anyone help me out with this please? Many thanks.

Mark

  • Have you been able to flash any other .out files to the device after this happened?

  • Hi Sean,

    Thank you for the reply.

No I haven't been able to flash other .out files to the control board after this incident. I have tried but the same error occurred every time.

  • It seems like there has been some damage to the board if you are unable to program any .out through CCS. Are you able to scope the JTAG connections during programming to see their status? It may be helpful to check before and after the isolator as you may have damaged the isolation IC by an overcurrent event

  • Hi Sean,

I think I have sorted my problem with the control board. It turns out I did make some mistakes not removing jumpers 1 and 2 after connecting the control board with the inverter to isolate the USB. My new device works fine after JP1 and JP2 have been removed. Thank you for the tips.
