Hi,

I am working with Design Drive kit and software example Can any one help me regarding following questions

1 How can i set Acceleration, Deceleration, JERK in IDDK software example code to rotate my motor as S_carve

2 How can i develop a observer that tracks the parameters of motor, Which Block of DMC i can use for this purpose

3 How can i change the rotational direction of motor

1. Right now , there is no code in IDDK example that addresses S curve needs. You can limit the max acceleration, deceleration by setting the speed PI controller saturation values (or max output values).
2. There may be many tech publications that addresses parameter tracking. All these algorithms will need voltage and current feedbacks from DMC.
3. On IDDK example, speed can be reversed by giving a negative speed command only.

I am working on build level 3 using design drive when i commandad the motor to run the motor vibrate and stall can you help what should i can do

May be the sense of rotation of motor and that of the encoder are opposite. Reverse any two wires of the stator connection and see. Or you may have to increase the Iqref value or something like that. Pls read the user guide and try some options.

Hello sir

Thanks for your reply now motor running fine but I tweaking the kp and ki but there is no impact on fbk variables. The fbk does not tracking the Ref only oscilatting and graph show that the output of park module have too much variation i am trying to stable fbk from last two day by tweaking the kp and ki but nothing changing please tell how can i properly track the Ref because I have limited motor control experience

This build level is supposed to test the current loop, and not speed. It is not clear which fbk is not tracking the ref.

In build level 2, did you verify if the phase currents Ia, Ib are sensed by the CPU. If you follow the user guide steps, it will make it easier.

Dear sir i have again verify using build level 2 my current sensor work fine alpha and beta current according to user guide, working on level 3 from 3 days but nothing improvement by changing the kp and ki but no impact on iq and id fbk it still oscillating it's value vary from minus to plus. Please help me how can I manage it

If you are using a variable power supply, consider increasing the DC bus voltage so that you can monitor the impact of the PI coefficients. If the voltage is low, then the pi controller output may be already close to saturation that it can not show the impact.

Hi

I am working on current loop iddk level 3 from last 2 weeks but it can't be stable it's iq fbk and Id fbk can't track the reference, now I am totally disappointed can anyone help me how can I successfully complete build level 3

Hello,

Did you try increasing the DC bus voltage per my earlier suggestion? There is no mention of that test.

Btw, we have not heard from anyone about build level 3 not working. There were some situations where Iqref needed to be increased. But your situation seem to suggest that a total non performance. You need to make sure the current feedback sense method is right, HOT_GND or COLD_GND selection that fits the current sensing method should all be verified. The user guide has relevant information needed to perform this evaluation.

Hello sir,

I am really glad for your feedback it show your senserity for me, but unfortunately till now the issue have not resolved, my current controller feed back not stable that is oscilatting from positive to negative with respect to reference value, I have change the kp, ki gain in every possible value but not stable feedback and can not track the reference iq and id, can you suggest me any thing to solve my problem

Yes I have increased but oscillation is same as on low voltage

In build level 2, you said that you were able to see the alpha and beta currents. If that is the case, then I don't see why closing the loop will not respond. It appears that the loop is either not closed at all, or, may be the current PI controllers have already saturated rendering the loop uncontrollable. If you can review the code to see where the system is stuck based on your observations, that is another way to go.
At this point, based on the inputs from you, I dont know what else to look for other than to suggest to try on another motor (if possible higher voltage) if you have one. Working on this kit requires a certain familiarity in real time motor control. Remotely, we can only provide so much guidance.

Dear sir my space vector module out put and Clark module current.As and current.Bs not according to user guide, it is not like sine wave, but seems as distorted wave form

It is surprising to learn that space vector output wave form is not according to the reference diagram in UG. This has been in use for many years, you may have to spend some time to understand the code and concept in general to get the basics all taken care of.

However, I am not surprised at the current waveform. The inverter dead band is 2us and that your motor is 24V, so the voltage distortion may be too high and therefore the current waveform is distorted as well.

Try using a higher voltage motor if possible.

Dear sir, finally because of your help now my current wave form, SVGEN module work ok and my current loop close successfully, now i am working on build level 4, when I command motor to run initially motor move slightly then stop and speed_pid_fbk remain zero, can you suggest me any thing. Dear sir now in the build 4, motor move for initial alignment and after isw=2 the motor stop, and try to move but can't, my current controller iq is in saturation , reference iq=0.9 and fbk iq =0.35 maximum,

Make sure that the sense of rotation of the motor shaft and that of the position sensor is same. If not, the motor can stall like this. Try reversing any two phases of motor connecting to inverter.

Dear sir i have remove encoder from motor and rotate the encoder by hand, as I rotate the encoder the motor move and track the position of encoder very successfully but in normal saturation motor move only for alignment, I have also change the motor 2 phase

Dear sir i have change motor phase many times but same condition, in build level 4 motor moves for initial alignment and when the isw value make 2 then motor has stop and can not move further, now the motor in rotor lock position, my motor and position encoder are aligned together as per user guide, in the other hand I have remove the encoder from shaft and move encoder by hand now the motor move and track the position of encoder,please suggest me any thing to solve my problem

Is the speedRef zero? If not, increase IqRef.
Review the code to see where it may be stuck otherwise.

In the **-settings.h file, you will see a line that reads somewhat like this

#define MOTOR_RATED_FREQ 400.0 // Rated motor electrical freq

Edit this line to reflect your motor's rated frequency here. Hope it works now.

Dear sir in build level 4 my motor run for 2 minutes and then stop, during these running when I change speed ref but no impact on motor speed ,after 2 minutes motor stop and giving minor sound please help me should I can do

No sir not at all, my speed loop run at totally non performance, very poor torque at close loop speed running, when I commanded the motor to run, motor run for 15 rotation approx. then stop, I have try as my best but nothing solve the problem, I am very disappointed why my speed loop not work and delay our project. And also my boss criticised me, my boss has give the time for 1st Feb. 2019 to close the all loops for this motor i.e current, speed, and position loop, but at this time i cannot understand what should I can do to save my job and successfully complete the project

Hi Asim,

I dont know how we can help remotely beyond what has been already done. You mentioned that you are using a different motor than what is being suggested as a bundle. It should not be a problem if you ported the parameters of your motor into the code properly. Secondly, you also mentioned about being new to motor drives. Unless you spend some time to understand the concept behind AC motor control, it can be challenging.

You mentioned about successfully testing out LEVEL 3, so LEVEL 4 should have been completed easily. All we can say is the current challenge is not a major one, you need to revisit the suggestions given already and try out one by one.

Hello Ramesh sir,
Now i explain you about current situation of project, using build levelb4 when I commanded the motor to run, initially motor run for allignment and then system shift to close loop control, at this stage motor run with minor torque or poor torque for approx. 15 rotation then stop, after if i try to rotate the motor with hand the motor start moving and complete three or four cycles then stop, during running of motor my current loop tracks the feed back efficiently with little steady state error, when motor going to stop position ,my speed loop out put goes to its saturation value 0.9 pu, and current loop out put also goes to their saturation value , can you help me where the system become unstable, I have study hole the code and watch all the videos lecture for motor control by texas instruments, my system work fine till the build level 3, in build level 4 my current loops work fine but speed loop made the system unstable.

In general, if the current loop works and not the speed loop, then here are the possible faults:

1. Speed feedback calculation can be wrong - did you verify the speed feedback values when you ran build level 2?

2. Speed PI controller values may be wrong - try smaller values of ki at first and based on the response increase it a little bit. General design of Kp and Ki is based off motor inertia and such. If the motor you use is big, then you may need a higher kp.

My notes is very generic in nature, but I hope you find it useful.
