TMS320F28377D: SPI High Speed Mode maximum frequency

Part Number: TMS320F28377D

F28377 documentation mentions that SPI in high speed mode can work up-to 50MHz if appropriate pins are used.

However in the technical reference manual (SPRUHM8H, page 2059), there is a note, that SPI baud rate should not exceed maximum rated GPIO toggle frequency.

Data manual for F28377 (SPRSP19, page 69) says that maximum GPIO output toggling frequency is 25MHz.

So what is really the maximum SPI frequency in High Speed mode ?

  • Miroslav,

The datasheet is correct.  That is, high-speed SPI can work up to 50 MHz.

The note you cited in the TRM is a cut-and-paste from older device documents that didn't have high-speed SPI mode, and should be updated.  It does apply to non-high speed SPI.  For high-speed SPI, the pin buffers support up to 50 MHz.

    Regards,

    David
