TMS320F280049: Guidance on using FSI to communicate with FPGA

We are still discussing with customer on whether they could support FSI from FPGA side.

According to my understanding, what encoders manufacturers are doing is they provide Verilog code package for customers to implement directly in FPGA to support their protocol. This is a very similar situation like FSI. Do you consider work on an example for FPGA to enable F28004x to communicate with FPGA more efficiently?

Since we do not have one-chip servo solution before, customers are widely using C2000+FPGA and C2000 is only running communication and voltage loop. Thus, the performance requirement of C2000 is actually very low and customer are considering new cost down solutions. Piccolo devices are good in performance, but they do need a high speed interface to support FPGA.

So the main thing that seems to be a useful resource is creating an example code in verilog to showcase communication between C2000 FSI and an FPGA. Is that correct? If it is, then I can request to see if we have the bandwidth for a project that would accomplish this.

Thanks. We are promoting F2838x one chip solution and customer are really interested in this solution.

However, for projects with limitted R&D cycle, customers are still willing to continue current architecture. But they need a C2000 with better cost.
