TMS320F28075: When need to enter Wait mode to connect emulator in ECSL mode

Part Number: TMS320F28075

Hello Champs,

Customer is using F28075 DCSM and found that when CSM is enabled emulator can be connected on some F28075 chips but others cannot connect and should enter Wait Boot Mode and then can connect due to ECSL.

They hope to know how to judge when Wait Boot Mode is necessary to connect with emulator in ECSL and when it's not necessary and emulator can directly connect.

Would you please kindly suggest? Thanks!

Best Regards,

Linda

  • Hi Linda,

If customer is enabling the security on device, they should always use WAIT boot mode to connect to device. If not then they may face issue of not connecting to emulator. Basically it depends on which part of the code CPU halts when connected to CCS. If CPU is executing non-secure code then there will be no issue in CCS connection. If CPU is executing secure code then ECSL will trigger and not allow the CCS connection hence it's always recommended to use WAIT BOOT for CCS connection on device where security has been enabled.
